Netsky’s experience and prestige in drum n bass shines through in this uplifting summer banger. Use of relaxing, loungey synths embellish the catchy melody and well recognised Jenna G vocals, leaving you with a sharp hook to sink those teeth into! You could argue that the tune is quite generic, providing nothing much new, with clichéd lyrics although delivered powerfully. The introductory humming is captivating and once it finishes, it leaves me craving for more. This version isn't particularly one for the dance floor, but could help you out in a little Sunday drive. Netsky has fierce Hospital Record mates such as Danny Byrd and Elektricity, yet Newsicmoos can’t help but feel that he’s the back bone of it all. And a popular bone he is.

Rainbowtrout (known for their musical prowess) is the new song by Joe and Will Ask? on the Deadly People label. ‘Joe and Will Ask?’ are fast diving into my favourite artists collection. Now before the fish puns come flowing, I demand you to stream some of his stuff over on Beatport, Youtube, or wherever...

If you did fall trap to my demands, I’m sure you can hear that each song is fresh and makes you want to get on your clubbing shoes! This dynamic duo from London is scaling new heights with every new song they release. But before I bubble over (last bad pun, I promise), let’s stick to Rainbowtrout for now.

We get started with a techno-electro build up, which dissipates into the main theme before we’re dropped into utter dirty synths. When in full swing, the melody and drop together symbolise heavy arm flailing and major stomp raving. It’s a very clean cut, simple dance track with one melody, one bass line and variations on them both. Still there is no doubt there is some serious raving potential in this tune, and I encourage everyone to splash out on this song…

Tune Of The Week: Zed Bias feat Jenna G - Show Some Appreciation

Dave Jones, aka Zed Bias, has been instrumental in the forthcoming of dubstep, as well as pioneering a progressive 2-step garage sound. Along with Jenna G, this latest single release gives us a little teaser of what to expect on his newest album to be released some time later in the year under his alter ego Maddslinky. Much like previous release 'Sound Of Love', there's a soulful element to his simplistic house in the undertones balanced out by the use of deep synth separating beats. This is newsicmoos stand out track of the week. And below is a Maddslinky remix, a bit more upbeat and ready for the dancefloor.

The Qemists featuring Jenna G - Hurt Less

Jenna G offers her take on lyrics with substance: of obtaining pain through the everyday, as depicted in the official video (link below), but only to rise against it all and do your thing with style. The music, played by the trio from Brighton, is in toe with the lyrics, a blast of metalised drum and bass, heavy use of rocky drums and a live sound that isn't too far away from Pendulum's. A connotative moral victory - though not of one that you can impart on the kids! Another cool release and follow up to 'Your Revolution' from the guys at Ninja Tunes.

This below is the 'My Digital Enemy Remix' - a dancefloor housey take on a rocky original.

Kidkut - I Love 04

Who is Kidkut? Well newsicmoos came across his breakbeat sound whilst browsing one of the best compilations of the summer: Ibiza Rocks Reclaim The Dancefloor. A relatively unknown puts his knowledge of sub cultured underground music and applies it to this release; a dedication to reminiscent sounds of the breakbeat past, with a touch of sophisticated updating. The likeness to 808 State's 'Pacific' in the breakdown of this tune does no harm whatsoever. After a bit more research, it seems the label, Immerse Records, was launched by Bristolian Kidkut 4 years ago.

A bit wonky, a bit breakbeat. Enjoy.

High Rankin - Cut You Down

A layered intro, liquid sounds, bleeps, low synths, quiet bass and an overall electro-dub outlook. It's as if this release is an example of how garage music has adapted into the modern musical day.

With two tracks on this EP, the combined efforts of Smooth, Nookie and Utah Jazz offer a seismic release of happily epic proportions. An uplifting track which evokes reflective emotion, a subtle deployment of drops in snare then bass, and a jazzy, sunny and soulful drum and bass outlook. Ahhhh :)

Magnetic Man featuring Katy B - Perfect Stranger

Magnetic Man is causing a storm at the moment, with the teasing ways in which no full tunes aren't posted anywhere until released. On YouTube, for example, they have created cleverly edited clips that entice you enough to search vigorously for more. I predict that we will look back at 2010 and remember the ways in which Magnetic Man (Benga, Skream & Artwork) shook the very foundations of dubstep and rebuilt it in their own way. Big up & watch out for these guys! I..need...air..re-ye-yah!
