Compilation: Annie Mac Presents 2010

Yet another perfectly tracked album by the rose of UK DJ's, Annie Mac. It's undoubted that our Annie would ever choose a bad tune to grace one of her compilations, and this proves no different. It takes inspiration from anthemic Ibiza tracks such as Tensnake's 'Coma Cat' and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's 'Head Will Roll' to cult 2010 classics like Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs with 'Garden' and Breakbot's 'Baby I'm Yours'. It's an ego boost to know that such tracks have been highlighted on this very blog throughout the year - so you could say we and Annie are one. No? If only...!

Below are a few track choices. Go out and buy this to add to your Mac-like collection.

Marina & The Diamonds - I Am Not A Robot (Doorly Remix)

Flying Lotus - Do The Astral Plane

MYNC, Rhythm Masters & Wynter Gord - I Feel Love (Circus Parade Mix)

Compilation: Adventures In Dubstep And Beyond // Ministry Of Sound

It's not very often that I'm reeling in glee at the success of unknown tunes ladelled across a forward-thinking compilation. Ministry Of Sound have outdone themselves with Adventures In Dubstep And Beyond, propelling unknown acts from varying genre styles. Not your typical purchase, let me tell ya.

And this is just one tune that struck a chord with us here at Newsicmooooos. Enough to make us moo a more incoherently amplification. Can't wait for the full version. Can we have it now, please?

Dom Hz (of OpenEarz Records) - Without You

Released: 26th September 2010
Label: Ministry Of Sound

Compilation/Album: Pure Silk Music - The Old Skool Summer Collection

Now for a taste of newsicmoos oldie garage classics. Ah, what a wonderous time of sped up 4x4 beats, high pitched vocals and constant summer smiley beats. Pure Silk are garage experts, proven by the slick and summer honey-draped tunes and a collective handful of renowned artists such as the divas with big voices Jocelyn Brown and Rosie Gaines, Stanton Warriors on the remix and Masterstepz bringing it back to the future.

Revel in old skool garage. A few selections below.

Enjoy.

Track 2.

Wicked Warriors - Be My Lover (Dub Syndicate Mix)

Track 10 -(though not the same mix as the compilation).

Tuff Productions & Furious - Top Of The World (Steve Gurley Dub Mix)

Enjoy.

Compilation: Rewind to what was.

Universal Music jumps on the obliteration of nostalgia fad-wagon that we consumers are currently, apparently, in awe of - that fad of looking to times before this apocalyptic recession came and bit us in the pockets. Those days when Netto wasn't an option; we all seethed at Tony Blair's homoerotic relationship with Mr Dubya; and garage music was widely acceptable as the forefront of dance music.

Remember this?

This old schooler is part of a new compilation called Rewind Old Skool Classics, presented by Craig David & DJ Spoony. It's not an unusual occurence for the above tune to be a part of garage compilation heaven - well, it is still a significant tune to that era. To add to this ever-repetitive list is a roster of artists being used in the hopeful task of locating those good garage times in the memory bank. These artists include Monsta Boy, Ms Dynamite, N n G, MJ Cole , DJ Zinc and many many more that quite simply don't need to be listed. To find out, just go to Google and search for 'garage compilation'.

It's a four CD compilation - quite a handful. Or a particularly good way to repackage yet another 'classics' album.

I must add, it is quite a collection though.
