Unreleased: Rasmus Faber - Yes and Your Beat Sounds Like

Rasmus Faber is known the world over for piano playing that encompasses a rolling melody to ignite the fuel to lift a spirit. With vocals of the highest order and lyrics that are dedicated to love, the overall feel is one of unity and peace.

Enjoy.

And if you like what you hear, this is one the best soulful house tunes ever made in our opinion. This is the live version of 'Your Beat Sounds Like' featuring vocals from Melo.

Compilation: Adventures In Dubstep And Beyond // Ministry Of Sound

It's not very often that I'm reeling in glee at the success of unknown tunes ladelled across a forward-thinking compilation. Ministry Of Sound have outdone themselves with Adventures In Dubstep And Beyond, propelling unknown acts from varying genre styles. Not your typical purchase, let me tell ya.

And this is just one tune that struck a chord with us here at Newsicmooooos. Enough to make us moo a more incoherently amplification. Can't wait for the full version. Can we have it now, please?

Remix: Mark Ronson & The Business Intl - Bang Bang Bang (Count & Sinden Remix)

To commemorate the release of Mark Ronson and The Business International's (mouthful) album Record Collection this week, Newsicmoos is supplying you with a Count and Sinden remix of 'Bang Bang Bang'. Still ensures mass appeal but with a view to shake some bootay. We do love the quirk of Ronson every once in a while...

Enjoy.

Event: Pacha Ibiza DJ Awards // Butch, Stimming & Results.

Another year of tunes and partying is signified by these awards, the well respected 13th annual Pacha DJ Awards. Last year, Michel Cleis took over the night with his anthemic tune that will lay forever in every raver's heart. This year, the track of the season is....

... Butch with 'No Worries'. It's a new tune to me, and it didn't startle me as much as Cleis's, but I see the fascination. Simple production that does arouse addiction after a few listens. Enjoy.

Album Of The Week: Fenech-Soler - Fenech-Soler

Peterborough quarter Fenech-Soler release their self-titled debut album this week, and what an album it is. Obvious comparisons can be made to Klaxons and Friendly Fires who both represent that glittery-electro-pop sound, though Fenech-Soler add a tinge of French-sounding synth and bass. Signature tracks 'Lies' and 'Stop And Stare' have cemented the boys in to the music world's consciousness, through unescapable catchy production and lyrics. The album tumbles through jealousy, uplifting reflection and folsky French sounds, peaking with no other sentiment but music with meaning. Much fun, emotion and subtle humour - buy it. Buy it now.

This is actually the Doctor P remix. Heavy.

This is another dubstep remix brought to you by GZUS of the track 'Stop And Stare'.

Upcoming Single: Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand // Official Video

Even with Duck Sauce's first single 'aNYway' there was an obvious bout of fun seeping from every bouncing beat and production elements. Straight up: this video cracks us up here. The single is released on the 11th of October, where I'm sure you'll hear more about it on this very blog. Until then, enjoy this vid!

Tune Of The Week: Tony Lionni - Precious (EP) // Freerange Records...

Here's one word for newcomer Tony Lionni: exciting. His music has been described as a combination of subtle Detroit techno and uplifting euphoria. Latest EP showcases the track 'Precious' which proves aforementioned theory; the intro is invitingly relaxed, projected by soulful uplifting synth that complements vocals by Marvin Belton. The intro leads you deep in to what is to come, a relaxed groove that evolves with accompaniment of a funky light bass drum and bleeps that set off the sluggishly lustful tone. It completely slots in nicely with the Freerange sound, befriending the tone of such acts like Jimpster, Shur-I-Kan and Milton Jackson. If you love this tune as much as we do here then keep an eye out for upcoming album released on October 11th. And to top it all off? He's a fellow Mancunian. Hoorah!

Sit back, relax, and dedicate the next six and a half minutes to this beaut.

Singles Of Note: 27th Sept - 3rd Oct 2010 // Flash Atkins, King Midas Sound, Red Rack'em, Voodoo Chilli....

Hello ravers. Quite a smooth run of downtempo for this week's chosen ones, with focus on house house house. Follow us on www.twitter.com/newsimoos. We'll love you forever!

Have a good week - the weekend is never too far away.

****

Flash Atkins feat Danielle Moore - Make Your Move (Atjazz Remix)

Flash Atkins provides a tantalisingly laid back alternative to the up-tempo, deep house influenced Atjazz remix, opening with smouldering tribal percussion that teases along at a hypnotic 90bpm, before plunging into a deeply soulful groove at 1.44. Featuring the seraphic vocal soundings of Crazy Penis vocalist Danielle Moore, rapturously imploring the listener to make their move with the lights on, the use of live instrumentation and early disco influences coupled with flawless, crystal clear production, make this one hell of a classy, highly seductive track. A nicely interwoven acid bass, subtly entwined amongst the string and brass call and response before the break, adds to the aura of smooth mystique.

Get your groove on.

Voodoo Chilli - Love Song (Urchins Remix)

Featuring a spirited mash up of ‘Everybody’s Singing Love Songs’ by 1970’s Philadelphia soul outfit Sweet Thunder, the Urchins have spliced up the uncharacteristically mellow Voodoo Chilli aka Herve club mix in a bass pounding, noise-gating-aplenty fashion that The Count himself would be proud of. A storming, electro-romp of a remix, let down only by the most overused dance music cliché of our time: if only they could have chosen another sound to replace that white-noise-rise-to-the-next-section-crescendo, which has saturated club track instrumentation for much too long now. It’s time for another noise to keep us in suspense!

Still, enjoy!

Darren Emerson - Decisions

An underground tease is alive in Emerson's production - sounds of percussion build the second crescendo, with added Soulwax-like warehouse atmosphere.

Massive.

King Midas Sound - Lost(Flying Lotus Remix)

Flying Lotus lends his Midas touch to the King on this lo-fi dub rework. Kitchen sink beats shuffle restlessly around sparse vocal delays, creating the lazy loop style that has become signature to FlyLo's work. Whilst the original track's been stripped of some of its emotion, this mix exposes the rawness and vulnerability of the vocal and pushes it to the fore. Amazing tune.

Enjoy!

Red Rack'em - Pressure (Kez YM Remix)

Nottingham maverick Red Rack’em is well known for his genre busting DJ sets, so it's of no surprise that his latest release ‘Pressure' was a step aside from his usual deep house grooves and disco flavoured edits. By his own admission he wanted to create an ‘old-school banger’ with ties to the ‘straight ahead’ house of the mid 90's. One could argue this is one idea a certain Daniel Plesslow (Motor City Drum Ensemble to you and me) has succeeded with of late with his ‘Raw Cuts’ series. It certainly wasn’t surprising Japanese upstart Kazuki Yamaguchi, better known as Kez YM, was enlisted to take up remixing duties. If ‘Pressure’ was designed for the night time floor, the remix stands (or probably sits) in contrast in the hazy afternoon sunshine. Yamaguchi’s beautiful and deep Detroit-inspired rework drops the intensity of the original to create a late summer groove perfect for those longs days in the sun. That said summer is gone and autumn is certainly upon us now. Turn the patio heaters on and turn up this tune! Close your eyes and you might not be able to tell the difference.

Enjoy.

Single Remix: Chris Coco - Summertime (Afterlife Remix)

Now then, the UK's summer was fleeting, disturbed and the usual anti-climax. That's when tunes can alleviate our obsession with our typically bad weather by taking our lackthereof sunshine's place - and some tunes lend a hand in radiating warmth, such as this stunner by Chris Coco. Though the Afterlife remix places emphasis on lightly dipped drum and bass, there remains a sense of calm, perfect for a bikini-clad dancefloor or beachy cocktails.

Enjoy.

Massive Tune Alert: Booka Shade - Teenage Spaceman

This is MASSIVE. Yes, so big I used a grammar-whore's worst enemy to portray emotion: the Caps Lock. Booka Shade are masters at what they do - this release is interesting and rather quite shocking. Unexpected is the heavy roll of a bass, happy claps and seering synth. Of course, it's isn't a Booka Shade tune without sounds of minimal tech.

Enjoy!

Remix: Jazzbit - Sing Sing Sing 2010 + Remixes

The original to this Jazzbit remix was recorded by Louis Prima way back when everything was black and white and this kind of sound was elemental in entertainment. Jazzbit, also known as duo Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP, follow up from 'We Speak No Americano' with much of the same elements; a swing jive, vintage vocals and an infectious bounce. This above is the Enzo Siffredi mix.

Do enjoy, won't you? :)

New Tune: Haggstrom feat Terri Walker - Be My Baby // Champion Records

Big room beats and cutting edge synths make Haggstrom one of the biggest imports from Sweden since Ikea! The Champion Record folk are back with another sure fire hit, easy on the ears and on those tapping feet. With much radio and TV support, this should be up there in the dance charts when it's released on the 8th of November. Soulstress r'n'b singer Terri Walker provides vocals to top it all off. Jakwob - Here With Me

British dubstep producer and DJ Jakwob, or James Jacob, releases his first single this week, taken from his upcoming debut album. He was shot into our consciousness through heavy remixes of Ellie Goulding's 'Under The Sheets' and 'Starry Eyed', and has since remixed the likes of Katie Melua, M.I.A and Temper Trap. This single, released on an EP with accompanying track synonymous with his sound 'Scare The Snare', is a chilled version of himself. It's interesting production, soothing vocal screaming, atmospheric strings and cheeky use of instrumentation combines to form a harrowing narrative with a happy ending. Enjoy!

Ahu - To:Love

This is almost a meditative release, which transcends through the final product, through the vocal and through the lyrics - It's a downtempo soul song with a simplicity that arouses complexities. It's not the most chirpy of songs admittedly, but there is light at the end of a relationship-ending tunnel, where calmness ensues. A fantastic remix by Dimlite backs up this release of fascinating Turkish singer Ahu. One to watch (type her name into Google and she's being watched by the blogosphere!) Enjoy. Erol Alkan and Gonzalez - Never Stop

Where has Erol been all our lives? Well, off around the world doing live tours and spreading his dirty love. Through music, may we add. Ahem. He teams up with Chilly Gonzalez to provide a return to Erol's sound and a tune sure to find it's way on to the late night dancefloor near you. It's a rework of Gonzalez's April release and adds an oomph that tickles the stomach. Enjoy.

Remix: Joy Orbison - Hyph Mngo (Andreas Saag's House Perspective)

A massive remix that a true house follower would know by now. If not, you're in the same boat as us here. Definitely can't take away from the original production and the implications it had on the future of dubstep back then, but still, what an absolute ass shaker.

Massive.
Enjoy.

Tune Of The Week: Tensnake - Coma Cat // Defected Records

This tune has had plenty of coverage, throughout Ibiza, back in Miami, radio play and clubs everywhere, even in this blog a week or so ago. See, everywhere. Now it's released I hope for a UK top ten entry. Wishful thinking possibly, but for all the right reasons. Massive.

Tune Alert: Duncan Powell - Hold You // L2s Recordings

A tune released in February this year on an EP entitled Came Into View. It's a sort of new age garage sound reminiscent of the good ole days except with added jazzy dubstep and a broken, soulful vocal. Relax, roll up and reflect.

Tune Of The Week: Maddslinky feat Omar - Special

Maddslinky, more popularly known as Zed Bias, releases this soulful house beaut this week, featuring vocals from Omar. Bias is known for his penchant for providing vocal house that reflects a bit deeper than the average and this track is no different. Not to say that it lacks creativity or oomph, but subscribes to the Maddslinky brand. 'Special' is the first single from upcoming and much anticipated October album Make A Change - the lyrics are of overcoming obstacles and of achieving in life, spread smoothly over a UK funky bass line. What a TUNE OF THE WEEK!

As always, Newsicmoos are up on the remixes and the first one is by Toddla Toddla T. He injects a dirtier bassline with less emphasis on the soulful vocals. A very cool remix.

Album: New Zealand Shapeshifter - The System Is A Remix

These five New Zealanders (did you guess?) met in 1999 at jazz school where they merged differing musical tastes such as dub, jazz, hip hop and funk - and it shows. This album is a host of remixes mirroring their July release System Is A Vampire with many stand outs. such as Camo & Krooked's mix of 'The Touch' and Netsky's take of 'The Touch'. Eats Everything - The Road To Jack

As we are in midst of the 'awards season' in the music world, this week's Sample Legend Award surely goes to Eats Everything with 'The Road To Jack', a brilliant reworking of the Ray Charles classic 'Hit The Road Jack' from 1961. The Bristol-based fast food-loving producer's genius concoction below:

Fresh this week is the Loose Cannons Remix, and with its syncopated tom line, throbbing sub-bass and the odd cheeky wind chime, it's impossible not to love this, isn't it?

Herve - Together

Now this is a big one fellow ravers.

From Herve’s latest album, Cheap Thrills, ‘Together’ is a happy-go-lucky, upbeat, dance tune that will urge those dancing souls to the surface. Herve makes mixing bassline, house and electro look simple and creates a perfect little harmony. The choir-like vocals in mixed with a typical cheesy house style piano riff makes for a fantastic house tune. As a flag-flyer of fidget-house, Herve does himself and us lot proud in his newest tune. Of course, we cannot forget the soundtrack to the raver's bible, Human Traffic, melting together nostalgia and a sepia-toned oneness. Quite. Herve is currently on tour around the UK throughout October and November, so get your tickets now so you don’t miss out!

Example - Last Ones Standing (Doctor P Remix)

As far as dub-step goes, this remix of Example’s ‘Last Ones Standing’ is seriously unrefined. Sorry. Not only is Example’s version of the song an unconvincing example of rap, but this remix borders on being shallow. A lack of progress, monotonous alternation of dub-stup and 'rap' and a shock entry by Doctor P (of 'Sweet Shop' fame) all combine to create a flatline. But if contrary to our belief you like this, Example can be seen supporting Faithless on their upcoming UK tour.

Milton Jackson - Beautiful Liars

Milton Jackson is simply on fire at the moment. The Glaswegian has had a slew of releases on labels such as Tronicsole, FreeRange and Dark energy records to name but a select few. Jackson’s music is not of the commercial vocal deep house that a saturated genre can be associated with - it's deep, dark and funky. It oozes deep hypnotic vibes, the track is woven together with warm percussions intertwined with soft riffs. With all its deep finery it still manages to have a funky dark groove that will keep the dance floor busy. Keep an ear out for this Milton Jackson style of house.

Event: Moodymann is coming to Manchester @ Roadhouse!

The Roadhouse is celebrating the 2nd year of existence for popular night 'Cut Loose' in dog dayum style! Moodymann returns to Manchester on Friday 17th September in what is destined to be nothing short of cool as f**k. Tickets are £12.50 and can be bought on the website links.

A little excerpt from the Cut Loose website:

"Rollerball enigma and silhouetted man-on-the-mic Kenny Dixon Jr. aka Moodymann is one of the most enigmatic and charismatic figures that house music ever bred. Despite his refusal to give interviews and play the press-and-promo game, Kenny’s voice has been clearly amongst the loudest, when it comes to preserving the rich heritage of Afro-American music, while fighting the music industry powers that be. Blessed with an immaculate way of sampling, he takes stems from blues and soul, and respectfully takes them onto the next level – just check his Tribute (To The Soul We Lost) ode to Marvin Gaye for proof. From his dark and dusty deep house tunes on Peacefrog, Planet E and his own KDJ label, to his more recent outings on the R&B-drenched Mahogani Music imprint as well as his 2009 sure-fire anthem Freaky MF, Moodymann’s fingerprint has stayed unmistakable. Even a so-called techno tune like Dem Young Sconies sounds like nothing and nobody else on this planet. You can’t kick this feeling when it hits!"

Be there Manchester residents. If you are going - please write in and let us know how it goes to newsicmoos@yahoo.co.uk.

The first track today is by Bristolian TecBloc who shows us a darker side to the future of grime/dubstep. Tune Alert: Magnetic Man feat John Legend - Getting Nowhere

This is an unexpected track from Magnetic Man. It showcases a different side to the dubstep supergroup, a more soulful, reflective side that soul Legend John only proves to amplify. It carries an emotive message over the epic yet simple production, with hypnotic wood instrumentation and piercing synth. Some aren't feeling it, but we definitely are. They are going from strength to strength and anticipation is noteably growing for their upcoming album release early October. World domination could perhaps follow?

SHY FX ARE BACK! NAAAAAAAAAAAH! Ripped from the radio, lyrics that are so catchy i can envisage the yoot singing along now, strumming their imaginary beans with fingers shaped like shotguns.

Enjoy!

Tune Of The Week: Justin Martin & Ardalan - Mr Spock

It's never too late to make a big tune that's become even bigger the Tune Of The Week. Some sticky tech house with a few surprises thrown in to keep that Dirtybird penchant for house in the face of adversity. Reminds us here a bit of Moodymann. What do you think?

Enjoy.

Release date: July 2010

Remix: Erick Morillo & Eddie Thoneick feat Shawnee Taylor - Live Your Life (Chuckie Remix)

An uplifting Morillo release here, with a twist of Chuckie electro and a big piano drop.

Niiiiiice.

Released: 11th August 2010
Label: Subliminal Records

Remix: Azari & III - Reckless With Your Love (Tensnake Remix)

Tensnake is becoming a profound force in house music, particularly with the June release 'Coma Cat'. Now, Tensnake help us relive deep rooted house, reminiscent of that stuff that makes you squee and rave like there won't be another for years. Azari & III aren't to be overlooked either. Their succulent sounds incorporate an essence of hearty house. Be nice to hear out!

Enjoy.

Single: Cicada - Your Love

Maybe it's my love for the original that makes me screw up my face at Cicada's attempt of this genre-defining anthem. They haven't done bad, a simple electro-pop update that projects appeal to both ravers and rockers alike. If you're going to remake an absolute classic, then be ready for obvious comparisons and here's one that separates both versions: the evocative emotion. There is a lack of it in Cicada's version, it doesn't generate that same sense of ecstasy. Still, a cool release and a welcome reminder to the original, posted below.

This, the original. I bow down to you.

Relax and enjoy.

Single: Faithless feat Dido - Feelin' Good

This particular Faithless release is causing a buzz on online forums. Have they really sold out to the consumerism this country so breeds? Newsicmoos fully backs the fresh way in which Faithless are promoting such a track, and with a creatively clever music video. Dido supplies vocals that suit the tech-like synth and rushing surges.

Enjoy.
