Netsky’s experience and prestige in drum n bass shines through in this uplifting summer banger. Use of relaxing, loungey synths embellish the catchy melody and well recognised Jenna G vocals, leaving you with a sharp hook to sink those teeth into! You could argue that the tune is quite generic, providing nothing much new, with clichéd lyrics although delivered powerfully. The introductory humming is captivating and once it finishes, it leaves me craving for more. This version isn't particularly one for the dance floor, but could help you out in a little Sunday drive. Netsky has fierce Hospital Record mates such as Danny Byrd and Elektricity, yet Newsicmoos can’t help but feel that he’s the back bone of it all. And a popular bone he is.

Rainbowtrout (known for their musical prowess) is the new song by Joe and Will Ask? on the Deadly People label. ‘Joe and Will Ask?’ are fast diving into my favourite artists collection. Now before the fish puns come flowing, I demand you to stream some of his stuff over on Beatport, Youtube, or wherever...
If you did fall trap to my demands, I’m sure you can hear that each song is fresh and makes you want to get on your clubbing shoes! This dynamic duo from London is scaling new heights with every new song they release. But before I bubble over (last bad pun, I promise), let’s stick to Rainbowtrout for now.
We get started with a techno-electro build up, which dissipates into the main theme before we’re dropped into utter dirty synths. When in full swing, the melody and drop together symbolise heavy arm flailing and major stomp raving. It’s a very clean cut, simple dance track with one melody, one bass line and variations on them both. Still there is no doubt there is some serious raving potential in this tune, and I encourage everyone to splash out on this song…
There are some records that define an era: Stevie Wonder’s 'Superstition' for the funky 70s, Michael Jackson’s 'Thriller' for the pumped-up, dog-eat-dog 80s, Dr. Dre’s 'The Chronic' for the weed-filled 90s. Some might argue - with reason - that the soundtrack for the early naughties was the hip hop classic Its Bigger Than Hip Hop by Dead Prez. It was loud, in-your-face, black punk that shook both the dancefloors and our preconceptions of hip hop’s social nihilism at a time when Eminem was rapping about a suicidal stalker called Stan.
It is therefore of no surprise to me to find that ten years after its original release, someone has tried to resurrect this timeless classic for the modern era. WTF?! (drum and bass duo Adam F and Fresh) have attempted such a feat, turning the track into a dubstep anthem. The result is a skewered mix of original vocals, wonky bass and smash-and-grab drums that have left many fans polarized.
WTF?! haven’t reinvented the wheel, they’ve simply taken the best bits from an unbeatable track and beefed them up for a newer, younger crowd. But who cares when the beats are this heavy?

You've probably all heard the original to this tune. Or you should have, it's been around a few times. Quite a bike of a tune, if I may. It's become synonymous with soulful drum and bass tracks, and now a few extra remixes have added new levels to their supremacy. Toolroom Records are, I'm sure, proud to present their 200th release and the Newsicmoos stand out remix is by Knee Deep, the masters of soulful embellishment. Also check out the Mark Knight & Sidney Samson remixes.
Having freshly retuned myself with a History Of House documentary, I hold a certain reginited passion for house music and its beginnings. This is a little dedication to Derrick May's 'Strings' - an integral part of the evolution of house music. Words don't even do justice.
Husband and wife duo The Rurals are masters at producing uplifting disco house; yet after listening to their new album, I'm not left with an overwhelmingly camp sheen, more of an unthoughtoutand natural connection to the funk-soul roots and deeper side of house. The Rurals' mastery of deepness culminates in tracks like 'Song Of A Thousand Names' and 'Space Disco', which both set faith on low key synths and delectable drops, while 'Meatless Paste' remains on the deep side with a unique twist of jazzy strings, big band drums and an intricately emotive ambience. For some varience, the track 'No I.D.' has a UK garage feeling, proving the dynamic talents of these old timers (they began making music in 1995). If you're a Rurals fan, you'll be pleased to know that the majority of tracks are disco-tinted, suitable for any afro-wearing extravaganza. 'Dancin'' does what is says on the tin, alluring with subtly beautiful drops and a piano note that pulls at your very own strings and 'Corker' is, wait for it, an absolute corker. Maybe The Rurals named it so upon finishing the tune, when they sat back and listened on loud speakers - because that's the reaction it forced from me. Though the stand-out track is disco-tinted (and 4 years old), it's the deeper side to Special Edition that makes it worth bagging a copy.
Dance music performed well in the UK Charts this week with 2 new top ten entries, with Magnetic Man earning a respectable 10 and the Swedish House Mafia at number 6. This was after intense promotion throughout the week leading up to the commercial fate of 2 of the biggest tunes that will hit us this year.
Just a congratulations to the artists, and there's one due for the many thousands of people who spent their monies to back dance music.
